To help you out, I’ve gathered my most frequently asked questions about working with me, your DBT Therapist.

Frequently Asked Questions About DBT, BPD treatment, and Anxiety Therapy

As a DBT therapist in Pennsylvania, who do you work with? What are your specialties?

I specialize in providing Dialectical Behavior Therapy to adults with BPD and anxiety disorders; who experience debilitating anxiety & panic; relationship problems; and feel stuck in their past trauma. Many of my clients struggle with managing their emotions, maintaining relationships, and solving the problems in their lives that are causing them so much pain.

*Please note that I work with individual adults, ages 18+, who are located in the state of Pennsylvania.

Where do the DBT therapy sessions take place? Do you offer online DBT therapy or anxiety counseling sessions?

All of my DBT therapy sessions, DBT Skills Training sessions, and anxiety treatment counseling sessions are done through video and virtually via my HIPAA-compliant practice software.

How long does DBT therapy take? How long will I need to be in anxiety counseling or BPD treatment?

Every client has different needs and goals for therapy. Because therapy is a truly unique, personal experience for each individual, the length of time varies for each client. Typically, clients who prioritize their own mental health wellness, by committing to weekly counseling sessions, while actively engaging in the therapeutic process, tend to meet their goals and get relief from their symptoms faster than clients who are ambivalent about their treatment.

* A note about Dialectical Behavior Therapy: my Comprehensive DBT therapy & DBT Skills Training, outpatient program-

It is important to note that while my overall therapeutic approach is Dialectical Behavior Therapy, for my clients who are involved in my standard, outpatient DBT program, I follow the Linehan Standard Adult DBT Skills Training 24-Week Schedule. This means that clients who need to have DBT Skills Training will be scheduled for weekly DBT therapy sessions in addition to, weekly DBT Skills Training sessions.

When & how often are DBT therapy sessions scheduled?

I schedule DBT therapy and counseling sessions on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Individual therapy session times are scheduled at 8 am, 9 am, 10:15 am and 11:30 am. My clients commit to weekly sessions and typically on the same day and time each week.

As noted above, if it’s been determined that standard DBT & DBT Skills Training is clinically appropriate, you will need to commit to two sessions per week, which would include one session for DBT Skills Training, in addition to, your weekly psychotherapy session.

Why do I have to have weekly anxiety counseling or DBT sessions?

In my experience, when people reach out, they’ve been struggling for quite a while and want to start to feel better. When my clients attend their therapy sessions weekly, they reach their goals quicker. Most people don’t want to be in therapy forever :)

What if I need longer or additional counseling sessions? What if I need to talk with you in between DBT therapy sessions?

If we determine that it makes sense for your individual anxiety counseling sessions or DBT therapy sessions to be longer, we can definitely talk about that option on an individual basis. I can be reached in-between sessions on a case-by-case basis.

*A note about DBT between session coaching calls-

For my clients who are involved in the standard DBT program, phone coaching in between therapy sessions is available. Between session phone coaching calls will be discussed during your initial session.

Do you work with insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider. This means that I am not contracted with any particular insurance company. When clients work with me, they pay me up-front and then I provide documentation (i.e. “Super Bill”) for them to submit to their insurance company for whatever out of network reimbursement they are entitled to.

If you currently have an insurance policy that provides out-of-network benefits, you may be eligible for reimbursement from your insurance company. Each insurance company and policy is so different, that you will have to contact them directly to clarify what/how much reimbursement you are eligible for.

How much does DBT therapy, BPD treatment, or anxiety counseling cost?

My hourly rate for DBT therapy, DBT Skills Training, and anxiety therapy is $275 per 50-minute session.

What should I expect during my video consultation for DBT, anxiety therapy, or BPD treatment?

Finding a DBT therapist who is a good fit is a very personal decision. During your counseling consultation, we'll chat a bit about the reasons you're seeking therapy and I'll provide you with information on how I work with clients. It's super important to make sure that working with me is a good fit for you.

Once we've determined that we'll be working together, I'll send you electronic documents for you to complete prior to your initial session. That way, we'll be able to dig in right away instead of filling out paperwork during your first session.
